ITernal
About us

Twenty-two years of one system.

MAIS did not appear yesterday and will not disappear tomorrow. It has been developed since 2004, and today four universities and five colleges with more than 60,000 users rely on it.

Story

How it started

MAIS was first written in 2004 at Dupres Consulting in Dubnica. The brief was simple: the study department should not enter the same data in several places, and a student should see their studies in one view. That one area grew into nine modules, from e-application to diploma.

When the system outgrew a single project, ITernal was founded to take over its development and support and to work on it full time. We did not start from zero. We continue work that schools have relied on for two decades and push it forward: new integrations with state systems, the MAIS Student mobile app and operation on PostgreSQL with no database license fees. In 2017 we added Plagoff, a service students use to check the originality of their thesis before submission.

In that time the Act on Higher Education changed several times, and so did the technologies the web runs on. MAIS changed with them, so that schools did not have to.

Long-term certainty

Why you can count on us being here in ten years

An information system is not replaced every year. So we want you to be able to check our stability, not just take it on trust.

The system and data stay with you

MAIS runs on the school's hardware, with the modules the school chose, on the open PostgreSQL database. The school manages its own data. It belongs to the school, not to us.

A stable company, public numbers

We are profitable and our financial statements are publicly available in the Register of Financial Statements. You do not have to take our word for it. You can look.

The work does not depend on one person

Analysis, development, operations and support each have different people in charge. Development runs on company servers, so the code and documentation belong to the company, not to an individual.

Commitments in the contract

We deploy updates for new regulations before they take effect and provide support on working days from 9:00 to 15:00. It is written in the contracts, not only on the website.

Team

Who looks after MAIS

Each part of the work has a different owner. When you get in touch, you reach whoever handles your case.

Management
The company directors negotiate with universities in person and put their names behind every delivery.
Analysis
We turn study regulations and legislation into a specification before the first line of code is written.
Development
We build and maintain MAIS, including its integrations and the MAIS Študent mobile app.
Operations
Servers and databases, rollout of new versions and backups on the universities' own infrastructure.
Support
The first point of contact for study department staff and administrators, with a direct line to the developers.
How we think

Three things that have held from the start

We read the law like code

Study regulations, the Act on Higher Education, reports to the ministry. You cannot build an academic system without them.

Less, done properly

We do not do everything for everyone. We build a system for universities, and we have done it for a long time.

Long relationships

We have worked with schools for years. That is not possible without keeping what we promise.
